Professor Alice M. Lambert is a graduate of Anna Maria College (Class of 1987) with a Bachelor of Fine Art. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Bernadette Madore Award, granted to the student who has the highest GPA. She was also inducted into two Honor Societies: Delta Epsilon Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. After being invited to teach in the Art Department upon graduation, she completed her Master of Arts in Painting from Rhode Island College while teaching at Anna Maria. She has recently celebrated her 25th year at the College.
During her tenure, Professor Lambert has served as Chair of the Art Department for many years, oversaw the design construction and completion of the new Art Center, served as Chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts for five years. She initiated the Graphic Design Program and the start of two Master’s Degree programs: Master of Art: Visual Art and Master of Education: Teacher of Visual Art. She instituted the High School Art Competition for high school juniors and seniors in the state of Massachusetts.
Currently, she serves as Gallery Director of the School of Visual & Performing Arts Gallery, which hosts shows of student work, faculty shows, professional exhibits, alumni exhibits and work from the teachers of the Worcester Public Schools. She has collaborated with the Monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey in producing three majors exhibits at the College Gallery, which also included international lecturers, workshops, and concerts.
In addition to serving on numerous College Committees, Professor Lambert serves as the Advisor the newly-formed Art Club.
In 2006, Professor Lambert was awarded the “Women of Distinction” Award by the Girl Scouts of America for her community service to the arts;
In 2007, she was presented with the “Outstanding Service to the College” by the Alumni Council of Anna Maria College, and
In 2009 was nominated for “U.S. Professors of the Year” Award.
Professor Lambert remains active in the AMC community and beyond by serving on the following:
. College Liaison to the Worcester Art Museum
. Liaison to the Education Department of Worcester Public Schools
. Member of the Board of Music Worcester and
. Serves on the Education/Outreach Committee, Music Worcester
. Member of the National Association of Women in the Arts,
. Member of the Tower Hill Botanical Gardens
. Participates in a number of fundraising efforts for the College, her home parish and the community of
